VANDY'S BAKING POWDER BISCUITS

My mother made the best baking powder biscuits I've ever tasted. The recipe came from her 1920s high school home economics cookbook

2 cups flour
½ teas. salt
2/3 cup milk
6 Tblsp. lard. (Crisco if you must)
4 teas, baking powder
¼ teas. baking soda

Sift flour if not presifted. Measure and sift with other dry ingredients. Cut in lard. Cut into rounds about 2 to 2-1/2-inch wide with floured cutter or drinking glass. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
